How is this retirement gig going?
This is the time of the year that I used to get and give performance reviews and it’s a hard habit to break. I also happen to be getting pretty close to New Year’s resolutions, so why not give it a go!
Most important, a major health crisis has been averted with my daughter. She is on track with treatment and it is working great. Tough to get through, but she will prevail. Everyone else in the family is AOK.
The blog is getting off the ground and I have some cool plans for 2019 to tie it into a website, Babyboomerage.com, so stay tuned for that! In the last 10 weeks, The Space Between has attracted close to 200 readers. Please leave your thoughts, feedback and ideas for topics – that makes it way more fun!
My house is still on a diet. Somehow, that first order of decluttering business managed to drop to a lower priority, but I still try to put in an hour or more daily on getting my office and packrat areas better organized. I suppose I should have left some money for the garbage guys. They have definitely done more than average at this address.
My health priority for retirement has been to take better care of myself. If I have to give myself a grade, I get a "B-" at best. I do have a trainer and he pushes me a couple of times a week on medieval torture machines, but I'm still not able to make it through an hour exercise class. I am that poor soul in the back of the room who stares at the clock and is frequently found standing half upright glugging water from her bottle… However, I did earn an "A" on getting more rest. I rival any two-year old on an afternoon power nap. And, my favorite health priority, drum roll please, weight. I have lost 5 pounds – that’s a whopping ½ pound a week! My diet formula has been to cut down on snacking and if I get out of hand with holiday sweets, skip dinner. Also, no cocktails at home. I daresay that few nutritionists will support this plan. So perhaps this is one area I should target in 2019!
My financial diet is a topic for another day. Needless to say, I am putting a similar effort into spending that I am into my diet. Peculiar logic at best.
I have some more work to do as I evolve into my newly retired self and I hope you continue to join me on this journey. My list of ideas is growing, but I’m not sure that my energy level is growing in direct proportion. Time to get realistic and do a little pruning! Stay tuned.
