I keep telling myself, ‘Just breathe, just breathe… don’t overdo it.’ But it’s so hard to slow down. Book launches are a lifeline to authors.
Launch week was beyond my expectations. My head was spinning between tracking sales and ratings (Threadbare is sitting in the top 10 for BOTH New Medical Fiction AND New Jewish Fiction), requests from book clubs and other venues, and new ideas around book gatherings. Let me fill you in.
First, a big thank you – and I mean YOU, for helping me build the launch pad for Threadbare. Your support and open doors for In the Hands of Women laid the groundwork for a terrific takeoff.
Tomorrow, some of you will join me in the Threadbare Launch Celebration. It will be a fun afternoon tea with lots more ‘Thank you’s,’ so be ready to blush with me! Readers are fundamental to a book’s success. That’s how the word gets out and is far more influential than any ads and pitching. So please, if you enjoy Threadbare, don’t forget to:
• Rate/review the book on Amazon and Goodreads. Reviews are a critical part of the
‘algorithm’ used by Amazon, lifting the book’s exposure.
• If you’re on social media, post a cover picture (you can copy one from Amazon if you read on Kindle) and your thoughts. It goes a long way in book sales.
Leaving a review will only take a few minutes of your time!
Let me share some exciting updates about the book tour!
• Book club requests are coming in. The summer is almost full, and I’m booking into the fall. I am happy to Zoom if you’re far from me, or I will join in person if you’re nearby. Book clubs are how I started writing – I love you guys. And a shout out to the Yoga Studio in Summit. Heidi insisted on being my first book club visit, and I will be there on June 8th to chat with her fabulous readers! Heidi has a great setup for those local to Summit and is the BEST.
• Events—I have several in pen and pencil coming up, including an invite to be the keynote at a Sisterhood brunch in Princeton, JCCs in NJ and Florida, and community events in Bethlehem, PA, and Morristown, NJ. Let me know if your townhouse community may be interested, and we’ll work something out.
• New Events are in the making—more NYC Lower East Side tours, an exciting event featuring an international jeweler and me discussing suffragette jewelry and women’s rights (we are trying to book this before the election), and others too early to share. Stay tuned for more details!
• Book Stores –
· I will be signing at Chapter One, a new bookstore in Mendham, NJ, on Saturday, June 15th, at 10 a.m. Come on out and support an independent bookstore!
· Bethany Books, Bethany Beach, DE, July 15th
· Barnes and Noble - Ledgewood - September 14th
This is just the beginning. I am listed in the 2024-25 Jewish Book Council Speaker catalogue and hope to include several of their venues in the Threadbare Book Tour this year. I will update everyone as things firm up. Hope to see you on tour!!!
XO
Jane
Here’s one of my favorite recent Threadbare NetGalley reviews
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Full Text:Many thanks to NetGalley and Level Best Books for the free e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. This is a wonderful historical tale of NYC in the early 1800s that follows a Jewish woman's life over many decades and the birth of the garment district. Tillie and her family immigrate to NYC from Germany decades before Hitler. The family begins as kosher chicken farmers until tragedy strikes with the mother dying of breast cancer. As the progress of immigration and development moves north, Tillie makes a courageous decision to marry a widower and move to the tenements instead of continuing farming. Despite poverty, death, and disease, Tillie builds a button business with her husband and a garment business with her friend, Sadie. This is such a well-researched and written story of the history of the NYC garment district. The characters are very likable and believable. The plot works well. Also, it was nice to read a historic tale of a Jewish family that did not focus on Hitler and WWII. I have not read the other book in this series, but I have just downloaded it and plan to do so.HIghly recommend!
Back at you Darling 🥰
